Dr. Carlos H de M Souza
DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVIM (Oncology), Diplomate ACVS; ACVS Fellow of Surgical Oncology

Dr. Carlos graduated in Veterinary Medicine from Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro in 1987. He completed an internship at Wheaton Animal Hospital in Kensington, MD in 1993-1994. Further qualifications include a Master of Science in Surgery from Universidade Federal Fluminense (1994-1996). He worked as a Small Animal Surgeon and Hospital Director at Instituto Nacional de Proteção Animal (1994-2001).

Dr. Carlos pursued residencies in Oncology and Surgery at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2001-2004) and the University of Tennessee (2004-2008). He held academic positions at The University of Missouri-Columbia and The University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine.

Outside of work, Dr. Carlos enjoys music, food, travel, and spending time with his wife and daughter. They have a cat named “Magelli”. He also played the tenor saxophone in a band called Dishwater Blond, performing at the Bonaroo Festival in 2005.
